Mike Jones, former gay escort and accuser of Pastor Ted Haggard, just appeared live on on CNN and has refuted virtually all of Pastor Haggard’s statements to this point. Mr. Jones:
No link to the latest interview is available on CNN.com yet.
It is now clear, if it wasn’t before, that somebody is lying and continuing to lie. There is no possibility that the truth on the points listed above is somewhere in the middle. Either sexual acts occurred, or they didn’t. Either Pastor Haggard used meth, or he didn’t. Who is telling the truth remains open to question.
But I can’t see how this will have a good outcome for Pastor Haggard. At best, and by his own admission, he placed himself in a compromising position and used incredibly poor judgment. At worst, he engaged in long-term adultery, drug use, deception, and hypocrisy.
Technorati: Ted Haggard, National Association of Evangelicals, New Life Church, Amendment 43

In an interview with KUSA 9 News in Denver, Ted Haggard admitted that he contacted a gay escort for a massage, met the escort in a Denver motel room, and bought methamphetamine from him.
Haggard resigned earlier this week as head of the National Association of Evangelicals, and stepped aside as senior pastor of New Life Church in Colorado Springs, after allegations of sexual encounters over a period of years were made by a Denver gay escort.
The National Association of Evangelicals has declined any public comment on Pastor Haggard’s resignation, although the NAE homepage now simply says “The NAE website is being updated. Please check back later for more information.”
Continued good blogging on the Haggard situation from Ben Witherington and David Wayne, just to name two. Both of them are looking at broader issues posed by the Haggard situation. (Again, h/t to Smart Christian for the links.)

The Denver Post reports that Ted Haggard’s accuser failed a lie detector test. Male prostitute Michael Jones, who alleged homosexual activity and drug use by Haggard, was found to be “deceptive” by the test administrator, who pointed out that the results could be doubtful due to stress, and recommended a re-testing next week.
